Love God and look for the coming of His son - 1 John 2:15-17, 1 John 2:24-27, 1 John 3:1-3
1 John 2:15-17
15 Love (love which springs from admiration and veneration which chooses its objects with decision of will) not the world (kosmos), neither the things that are in the world (kosmos). If any man love the world (kosmos), the love of the Father is not in him
.16 For all that is in the world (kosmos) the lust (sinful desire) of the flesh (flesh), and the lust of the eyes, and the pride (the character of a false pretender, imposter, braggart, boastful, pride, arrogant) of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world (kosmos).
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust (sinful desire, mans depraved nature) thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
1 John 2:24-27
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise that he (Jesus Christ) hath promised us, even eternal life.
26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce (lead astray, cause to error) you.
27 But the anointing (rubbied in or smeared on, reffering to the old testament practice and reminding of the calling or rank) which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him (it).
1 John 3:1-3
3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed (given to) upon us, (in order that) that we should be called the sons (descendants, children) of God: therefore (on account of this) the world (kosmos: this arrangement) knoweth (ginosko: experiential learning) us not, because it knew him not (expressing full and direct negation).
2 Beloved, now are we the sons (descendants, children) of God, and it doth not yet appear (to shine forth as to be seen) what we shall be: but we know that, when he (JC) shall appear (to shine forth as to be seen), we shall be like him; for we shall see him (with the eyes and look away from others, to regard) (even as) as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope (expectation of future good) in (resting within) him purifieth (to make clean, pure, chaste, clean, not contaminated by anything) himself, even as he (JC) is pure (from every defilement).
