Happy Saturday!! – Proverbs 13:1-4, Proverbs 17:14
Proverbs 13:1-4
13 A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
2 A man shall eat good (fig. for what is gained by effort) by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors (traitors, faithless ones) shall eat violence.
3 He that keepeth (guards or protects) his mouth (fig. for what is spoken thereby) keepeth (guards) his life (soul): but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
4 The soul of the sluggard (sluggish, lazy) desireth (covets, waits longingly), and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent (incisive: having the ability to separate the superficial; constant in effort or exertion to accomplish) shall be made fat.
5 A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome (to be morally offensive, to stink), and cometh to shame (or confusion).
Proverbs 17:14
14 The beginning of strife (the angry fight) is as when one letteth out water (like breaching a dam): therefore leave off (to disperse, reject, cast off) contention (small arguments, quarrels), before it be meddled (gathereth volume) with.
