Happy Saturday!! – Proverbs 13:1-4, Proverbs 17:14

Proverbs 13:1-4

13 A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

A man shall eat good (fig. for what is gained by effort) by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors (traitors, faithless ones) shall eat violence.

He that keepeth (guards or protects) his mouth (fig. for what is spoken thereby) keepeth (guards) his life (soul): but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

The soul of the sluggard (sluggish, lazy) desireth (covets, waits longingly), and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent (incisive: having the ability to separate the superficial; constant in effort or exertion to accomplish) shall be made fat.

A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome (to be morally offensive, to stink), and cometh to shame (or confusion).

Proverbs 17:14

14 The beginning of strife (the angry fight) is as when one letteth out water (like breaching a dam): therefore leave off (to disperse, reject, cast off) contention (small arguments, quarrels), before it be meddled (gathereth volume) with.
