Godly grief works a change in moral position - 2 Corinthians 7:8-10
2 Corinthians 7:8-10
8 For though I made you sorry (grieved) with (by) a letter, I do not repent (regret), though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season.
9 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry (grief), but that ye sorrowed (grieved) to repentance (a real change of mind from sin itself; change of moral thought : from sin nature to spiritual nature; alway for the better): for ye were made sorry (grieved) after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage (suffer loss) by us in nothing.
10 For godly sorrow (grief) worketh (to work out) repentance (a real change of mind from sin itself; change of moral thought : from sin nature to spiritual nature; alway for the better) to salvation not to be repented (regretted) of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
