How to become righteous - Romans 10:1-4, Romans 10:9-10, Proverbs 3:5-6
Romans 10:1-4
10 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel (them) is, that they might be saved.
2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal (to boil, seethe: vehement passion)of God, but not according to knowledge (being acquainted).
3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness (the doing or being what is just or right), and going about (seeking) to establish (cause to stand) their own righteousness, have not submitted (not to understand, not to perceive) themselves unto the righteousness of God.
4 For Christ (the messiah) is the end (fulfillment or completion) of the law for (motion to the end) righteousness to every one that believeth (to have faith).
Romans 10:9-10
9 That if thou shalt confess (agree, admit) with thy mouth the Lord Jesus (Jesus as Lord), and shalt believe in thine heart (the seat of life, the starting point, organ of concentration) that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (made sound, preserved safe).
10 For with the heart man believeth (it is believed) unto (motion to) righteousness; and with the mouth confession (it is confessed) is made unto (motion to) salvation.
Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust (confide) in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding (discernment: power of faculty of mind by which distinguishing one thing from the other)
6 In all thy ways acknowledge (recognize) him, and he shall direct (rightly divide) thy paths.
