Put on love and be thankful – Colossians 3:12-17
Colossians 3:12-17
12 Put on therefore, as the elect (chosen) of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies (subjective compassion felt on witnessing misfortune), kindness (sweetness of disposition, inspire of gratitude), humbleness of mind (modesty… conceding to others all due respect or even more than they expect or require) meekness, longsuffering (long before anger, patient endurance);
13 Forbearing (to hold up) one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel (complaint or an occasion to blame) against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
14 And above all these things put on charity (the love), which is the (a) bond (that which binds together) of perfectness (completeness, that which has reached its full and intended end).
15 And let the peace (undisturbed state of well being) of God (Christ) rule (be umpire) in your hearts, to the which also ye are called (ye were called also) in (remaining within) one body; and be ye thankful (to become grateful, blessed).
16 Let the word of Christ dwell (inhabit) in (remaining within) you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord (God).
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by (through) him.
