The day of the Lord is coming - 2 Peter 2:9, 2 Peter 3:9-11
2 Peter 2:9
9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver (rescue) the godly out of temptations (a putting to the test, proof, trail), and to reserve (keep an eye upon, maintain) the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
2 Peter 3:9-11
9 The Lord (Jehovah) is not slack (does not delay) concerning his promise, as some men count (reckon) slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (a real change of mind from sin itself; a change of moral thought, sin nature vs spiritual nature).
10 But the day of the Lord (Jehovah) will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise (rushing sound), and the elements (elementary rules) shall melt (be dissolved, to loose) with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation (behavior) and godliness,
